Biography
Sonia del Signore was born in 1965 in Annecy, France, the daughter of renowned artist Littorio del Signore. She spent her early years in Italy before her family moved to Montreal, Quebec when she was 13. Growing up, she spent countless hours in her father’s studio, absorbing his techniques and experimenting with various media, which laid the foundation for her artistic future.
Del Signore studied fine art and fashion design at LaSalle College in Quebec. Following graduation, she worked in the fashion design industry for thirteen years, though her passion for fine art never waned. In 1999, she made the pivotal decision to leave fashion behind and pursue her most passionate ambition—a full-time career as an artist.
Her bold works burst with bright, exotic colors and skillfully blend figurative representation with abstract elements. Drawing inspiration from the Fauvist works of the early 20th century, del Signore creates art that radiates joy and vitality. She has said that her work “celebrates love, beauty, and music, and through that, it celebrates life.” Today, she is represented by Park West Gallery, where collectors can experience her vibrant celebration of life through art.
